My work initially began as a therapeutic form of art making. The marks I made were based upon my feelings during the time that I created the work, resulting in unplanned forms, shapes, and spaces. Just as the term system is defined as smaller components making up a larger whole, so my work is a process of small forms making up a larger image. My photocopied drawings are similar to this concept of systems, with each form connecting to make a unified design. I am interested in human nature’s condition of emotion, and while my work is based upon my own personal feelings, I want my visual images to overwhelm the viewer with an emotional response.
