Within the realm of virtual reality, art transforms into a metaphysical experience. My work explores the relationship between the digital space and memory. With influences as diverse as Puerto Rican culture and the Air force, I have modeled a digital environment based on what I have come to associate with my late father, Manuel Rios, who passed away from terminal brain cancer earlier this year. The project serves as my way of coping through grief and a means of honoring my father through my art making process that he grew to love. The viewer is free to interpret the piece as he or she sees fit. The message they take away is arbitrary to me as long as they are actively engaged in the piece.
