Many Adventures in Miniature Golf is a body of work which reflects my own exploration into the world of miniature golf design. I've always loved miniature golf: The kitschy themes coupled with a tee to cup narrative, the feeling of watching the ball roll smoothly over the grounding, the clink of the ball into the cup, the calming effect found when placing all of your attention into a putt. Attempting to create a successful miniature golf course means creating a space, both real or imagined, which balances function with aesthetics. In my attempts to create a successful miniature golf course, I have used two mediums, drawing and interactive sculptures, for experimentation. In both mediums I am constrained to using the drawing materials and found objects available in my locational and fiscal limitations.

My drawings use mixed drawing materials: pens, markers, ink, paint, stamps, etc. They offer the most fantastical and far-fetched course designs, only limited by my imagination and drawing abilities. They tend to take on the common themes found in commercial miniature golf, like windmills and exotic landscapes. My interactive sculptures are (dictated) in theme by the found objects I obtain, like childhood playthings from my basement or old tires in the woods. They require more functionality in their design; they are meant to be played and enjoyed. Physicality grounds the designs.
