Chance Hazelton artworks

Over the past semester I have evolved as an artist and found that I am interested in abstracting a recognizable image through the composition or point of view of the artwork. I no longer define myself through the medium I am working with and have instead thrown definitions out the window and am purely interested in what I create as it is and how it works alongside other pieces.

The Juncture Series displays a variety of images in which I feel I have abstracted the subjects of the pieces. Each piece is based on source photographs and from these photographs I have selected visual elements that I felt highlighted my interest in the idea of junctures, intersections, and juxtapositions. As you look at my pieces look at the various marks I made and the choices I made deciding what remained black and what marks became white.
