My painting, Dust Accelerator is an exploration of time and repetition through the disintegration of the human figure. My goal is to express an accelerated passage of time that represents the aging process with its inevitable conclusion of disintegration and death. Each time I repeat the figure I break it down into simpler forms until I arrive at shapes that for me signify the basic building blocks of life.

I am interested in the decay that happens with the passage of time because of my own experiences growing up on a farm isolated from the rest of the world. The effect of time was clearly visible in the deterioration of the barns and tractors that populated my environment. My direct experience with the process of human aging has also affected my perception of time. I was born into a home with adult siblings that have already made families of their own. As the people around me age, the patterns of time become clearer. I know that as time progresses, I too will grow older, change form and ultimately decompose like the places and people that surround me.
